Concrete Repairs at Sussex Council

Project Name: Concrete Repairs with Mid Sussex Borough Council.
Client: Mid Sussex Borough Council.
Completed Work: Restoration / conservation of brickwork and concrete structures.
Project Date: 2017.

Archers have worked with Mid Sussex Brough Council for a while. During this time, we have completed brick and concrete repairs at Storrington Fire Station. We have also carried out brick and concrete repairs at Burgess Hill Fire Station.

As an approved contractor of Mid Sussex Council, we were involved, together with R B Construction Ltd, with the restoration and conservation of the brickwork and concrete structure to some fire station training towers at Hove, Storrington and Burgess Hill.

Due to the amount of water being used on the buildings during training exercises, the structures had become weakened and in need of repair.

Once we had completed the brickwork and concrete repairs, Archers then carried out a two-coat application of Triproof AQ which is a highly effective water-repellent that is based on a blend of Silane and polysiloxane resins to extend the life of the fire towers.

THE CHALLENGE

The buildings are in frequent use, and the towers are regularly used for training. Water is used on the buildings which over time has caused some damage to the towers.

THE STRATEGY

Archers had to decide upon an effective solution that would not only fix the current problems that these fire stations were experiencing, but we also needed to help extend their life span.
