Drainage System with Ashford International Railway Station

Project Name: Drainage System with Ashford International Railway Station.

Client: Ashford International Railway Station.

Completed Work: Drainage System.

Project Date: February 2019.

Archer Specialist Treatments Ltd worked in the forming and installation of an Aco drainage system to all 4 levels within the car park at Ashford International Railway Station.

This was a very tricky job with the general public always walking by and having to make allowances for passing vehicles. Despite this, we were still able to complete the job to the highest standards.

We had to carefully mark out and cut through the existing concrete floor slab to an agreed depth using one of our specialist diamond cutting machines, when then had to manually gun out the concrete and then bed and encompass the Aco drains within a Pozament structural grout.

Finally, the area was sealed against further water ingress with the use of a two part exoxy resin laid across the whole floor area.

Ashford International station is known to offer direct links to several European cities including Paris, Brussels and Lille with high-speed Eurostar services. Its convenient location and connections mean this is one of the busiest stations in the area.

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge was to work on a site where we needed to make allowances for the general public and passing vehicles. In addition to this, the weather was against us during the recent cold snap, so we gad to create an enclosed working area and use heaters to ensure the ambient temperature did not go below -5 degrees whilst laying the epoxy resin compound.

THE STRATEGY

The work coincided with British Rail’s financial end of year so had to be carried within a 4 week program, in order to achieve this we had to empty additional temporary labour under the supervision of our onsite working foreman.
